The Principles of the Ballina - Byron Family Centre which guide our work with families

Principle 1:

At the BBFC, staff and families work together in relationships that are built on trust and respect.

Principle 2:

The programs of the BBFC enhance families’ capacity to support the growth and development of all family members.

Principle 3:

The programs of the BBFC affirm and strengthen families’ social, cultural, racial and linguistic identities.

Principle 4:

The programs of the BBFC are embedded in our community and contribute to the community-building process.

Principle 5:

The programs of the BBFC are flexible and continually responsive to emerging family and community issues.

Principle 6:

The principles of the BBFC are modelled in all aspects of our programs, including planning, service delivery, management and administration.

Principle 7:

The BBFC believes that all members of a family should be safe from violence.

Principle 8:

The BBFC believes that children should be provided with safe quality alternatives if they cannot live with their birth family.

Principle 9:

The BBFC believes that families have multiple forms and are not necessarily biologically based.
